I really enjoyed doing both projects. However, the evaluation on the first project was very harsh and the grades were overall on the lower side. The second project has a few problems. You're tasked with using Arduino in a complex-ish way. This course is misleading due to its name "Robotics", nothing related to robots or robotic arm control is being developed during this course. Theoretical classes show interesting topics but everything is very superficial, nothing goes in depth. The evaluation criteria for projects and papers are not specific at all, even if you do everything asked you will probably get a grade between 10-13. You only get a better grade if you are Superman... i don´t really know how.

Awful course overall. The theoretical classes are very bad and I personally didn't learn anything from them.

I think the projects change every year so my review is about the 2025/2026 course. The first project was literally doing a game of a car with zero hardware (what I found weird since the course is called robotics), we did a LTA system but overall it wasn't very "robotic". The second one was a bit better, we used Arduino, sensors and a motor and I actually enjoyed that one and was useful to learn and applicate some things.

Finally we needed to write a report that had literally zero...

The theoretical classes are poorly taught. The first project was to create a kind of suite for a Lane tracking assistant and makes no sense as we spend more time setting up the suite than actually thinking about robotics... The second project was way better, with a 1 degree of freedom "robotic arm" spinoff. Was disappointed for not being able to learn ROS. Do not recommend if you want to learn robotics.

Not great, not terrible, no exam, just 3 projects, one of them is a project paper, you don't really need to go to the theoretical classes, and the projects are fairly doable

NÃO FAÇAM ESTA CADEIRA POR FAVOR! Pode parecer que estou a gozar mas não estou, esta cadeira é mesma péssima, não recomendo a ninguém, nem ao meu maior inimigo. Fui para esta cadeira a pensar que ia aprender mesmo coisas de robótica (como, por exemplo, transformações de coordenadas entre referenciais, modelos de sistemas (geométricos, cinemáticos e dinâmicos), diferentes controladores, localização e triangulação) e que ia ter uma grande parte prática. Cadeira de projeto, sem exame. Os professores avaliam os relatórios ao longo do ano, mas não explicam o porquê da nota, então não há grande feedback para tentar melhorar. Os laboratórios são um pouco trabalhosos, mas como são grupos de 4 pessoas, se calharem num grupo fixe, o trabalho fica mais distribuído.

Evaluation is two reports and a paper but the grading is miserable. The lectures were good as well as the slides.

There is a lack of definition across the course. The labs do not have a clear goal or path to take, we can do whatever way we want and never know if it good or not. The provided materials are weak

The course has a lot of potential that it is not reached due to the infrastructures existent and lack of support from the teaching staff in the lab projects.
